Yeah, funny word about something soft warm and snuggley. I like an A or B Cup. Small and cheeky, slightly girly (sometimes boyish!!). I'm guessing you're a C or D Cup man. At the moment I'll have to make do with a Tea Cup!
David.

Ben - 10/10/2006 12:06
Dudes,

Have only just found this page and wanted to say that I think "Boobs" is a really funny word!

Bonzer,

B

David - 27/09/2006 22:49
You'll notice there has been a cull on the gallery page. I couldn't resist keeping the old sepia set down the side. I always liked it. I'll get some new pictures on there now.

jana - 06/09/2006 04:44
I really like the what you've done with the main page. That picture is so beautiful. And i like the ghost-black. Menu bar is lovely.

Sweeeet...

David - 22/08/2006 18:52
I have put together some website ideas to look at.

I have tried ghosting out the woodland pic so that text will work over it. Ghosted to black, white, leaf (yuk), and Path colour.
Also a wall background. A bit low res at the moment but it gives an idea.

Trying out a menu bar too. Solves the problem of the navigation not being clear.

They are all linked on:
new ideas
You may need to hit refresh if you don't see the new page.

Hope you're all well. I'm in the thick of some recording whilst try to eek out some sort of living... Sighs :P

David xxx

glynne - 19/05/2006 17:41
lovely!

David - 18/05/2006 20:37
I've added the security word feature below to stop the auto-spammers. If we start to use this I could change it to a login system so we don't have to keep typing it in. Could also add a file upload feature for viewing / hearing new ideas

David - 04/06/2005 23:11
Maybe that's cos no one wants to talk to you!!
Have you checked out our admin page? Add /admin to the end of our address. Login is info@piefinger.co.uk and the password is our normal one.

glynne - 24/05/2005 19:05
i think i'm talkin' to myself......................

glynne - 14/02/2005 02:37
five days buddy...five days - that's all ya gettin'...

David - 09/02/2005 13:59
I could tell my deepest secrets here and I'd have at least two months before anyone found out. But, do I have any secrets?

glynne - 03/01/2005 22:41
I was just thinking that myself!

David - 19/12/2004 17:50
We don't use this anymore do we?

glynne - 28/09/2004 22:34
it's not that high!

David - 28/09/2004 09:59
Can we get a lift from the station?

jana - 28/09/2004 09:47
I could do friday but I have to be in camden for 5:30. Would that be ok? I'll text rach. x

Glynne - 28/09/2004 08:05
Friday would be alright - in Richmond though if poss! (You haven't been to my new place yet...we can play up on the roof!!)

David - 27/09/2004 22:38
I'm free on Thursday and Friday this week.

glynne - 25/09/2004 20:51
guys, I think we have to consider the excerpts that we have up on the site!

David - 23/09/2004 14:41
IP Addresses are an inexact science. These people all use AOL so they could have the same or similar IP address if they live in the same town/city. Even so, I wouldn't rule out your theory. Especially in the case of two of them. One of them, however, I remember. She used to come to the VAC some years ago. I won't mention names here because they are all paranoid enough to search the internet for references to themselves. Be careful!

jana - 23/09/2004 00:15
You know what? And I don't mean to sound obsessive here, but that theory holds water. I'm fascinated with this craziness. There are about 3 or 4 ip addresses that constantly cross over between "lyn" "des finch" "I'm watching you" "another des finch hater" etc. Mad. See you sunday. xxx

Glynne - 17/09/2004 09:14
I think she's all of the people and just slagging herself off to get some attention...see you today x

jana - 16/09/2004 20:08
David, I just looked at the back catalogue of messages on the vac board because I was interested in what the hell was going on with this lyn person. Is it me or is she actually crazy? She starts random conversations and bitches people up and tells them to fuck off when they were just being nice with a witty flair. She's very paranoid. Has she been posting for a long time? Hello by the way. See you tommorrow. x

david - 21/08/2004 23:53
He pops up now and again to agravate people. You would need to know the history. It can't be the same guy! I'm sure you wouldn't want to know him. I'll check the IP addresses.

Glynne - 21/08/2004 20:39
where is he on the message board? have you removed him? I doubt it's the same somehow...

david - 19/08/2004 14:03
This jonesy. Surely this is not the same jonesy that has made a complete ass of himself on the VAC message board?

Glynne - 17/08/2004 14:58
cheeky

david - 17/08/2004 13:30
Indeed. Smooth as Rachesl's bu.. err bowing.

Glynne - 17/08/2004 13:08
cool - she was one of the musicians and floor dancers in the production of cabaret I did at the Union a wee while ago. did it all work ok?

david - 17/08/2004 12:43
Yo! we just got our first on-line order. From an Anna Corbould. How about that!

jana - 17/08/2004 02:19
i cunt schpell.

jana - 17/08/2004 02:19
ah, jsut read the guestbook. that might be my coulin but I'm not sure.

jana - 17/08/2004 02:17
what in god's name does that last message mean?

david - 16/08/2004 23:03
moikk hyvosti!! We've been 'anted'.

david - 16/08/2004 23:01
I'll have to type the words out again,I can't find it on the computational device. What font would you like? (joke)
Great day yesterday. Maybe we could get together with Rachel while glynne is away. It seems a long time before the next rehearsal.

jana - 16/08/2004 15:03
glynne could you give me a list of our songs? I'm missing a few x

jana - 16/08/2004 14:13
david could you email me the words to midnight? ta x

jana - 11/08/2004 17:00
Dude! That is so cool!

david - 11/08/2004 15:06
Hey, type piefinger into google now
Listed first! That will be due to The VAC listing I expect.

david - 11/08/2004 00:40
Club 85 in Hitchen is on the VAC venues page. I think Jana should approach them. I'll tell you why on Sunday.

david - 11/08/2004 00:27
All the play bar and volume bar issues are in your player, the web page only passes it the link. You can include html in these messages:
<br> = Line Break <p> = Paragraph Break
I'll try to look at the calender feature on Friday when I'll have some time.

glynne - now remembering - 10/08/2004 20:18
ah yes - we were going to set up an availability calendar on the fingerpad so we can more easily fit ourselves in and around (David to sort - though I think you said it might be a big job?) David - how do I put a paragraph in my message? is it an HTML command? can't for the life of me remember what it is...

glynne - in new hone - 10/08/2004 20:15
poor boy...it wasn't all that bad when we turned up - can't have been much of a meteorite! just tested out the play parts of the music page...works perfectly...just have a bit of corruption on the play bar - it says 'loading' where the play button should be, which then appears when you click it...the volume controller far left of the bar doesn't appear until you click on it. I like hot-tooting too. looking forwar to hot-tooting around those three old/new snogs...I think I mean songs...'building your history', 'speed' and 'eye leading the I' (all of which, interestingly enough, are in drop D...make of that what you will or willn't...) just to re-cap on today... - we're going to try and set up a few gigs out of town before we play the Troubadour (David to sort?) - we're going to hit the festivals offices for next year asap (Jana to sort) - we're going to re-work the biog for the web, in fact eradicating it altogether in favour of an enhanced gallery page and past gigs page (to include photos) (Jana and David to sort) - we're goingt o crack on with recording the next EP chez Myles Cochran; tracks at the moment are 'maybe I'll leave on Monday', 'inextricably wound' and 'note to self' plus a possible CD Rom video type extra track (Glynne to sort) - we're going to get a few video clips on the site (Glynne to sort) - we're going to try and find a computer for Rachel by sending out an email to the mailing list, couched in a reminder to check out the website (Glynne to sort) - we're rehearsing at Jana's on Sunday 14th Aug - we're going to go an catch a gig at the Troubadour before we play there (what? when?) - I'm sure there was something else... (help!) - there was also something that I forgot to mention today but I've also momentarily allowed that to escape my attention... David - I forgot to pick up some EPs from you - could you bring me 10 on Sunday? ta As soon as the bank account's up and running, I'll let you all know the account number etc so you can just pay any sales money straight in (yahoo!) lots of goodness ahead of us I think...ROCK!

david - all alone - 09/08/2004 22:03
No word from anyone for days. Don't even know what's happening tomorrow. Is anythinng happening tomorrow? A big rock that has travelled millions of miles through space has just crashed into Walthamstow! It might have killed me, it might not have done.

david - 07/08/2004 11:46
I like hot-tooting it could be a piefinger euphemism! But what does it mean? the mind boggles!

Thanks, It's fine. I'll send it.

jana - 07/08/2004 11:39
hot-footing, I meant. and I can't think of how to end it. Catch them while their hot or something equally trite...

jana - 07/08/2004 11:38
ok, it's short and sweet... Piefinger are a fourpiece with a soulful line in modern folk tunes. The line-up includes violin, bass acoustic guitar and precision harmonies. They recently launched their first ep and are hot-tooting it back into the studio to work on the second one.

jana - 06/08/2004 00:39
the troubadour have a great site.

jana - 06/08/2004 00:27
Hurrah. 2 at tinderbox it is. I have around ten orders, maybe I should take twenty? Very cool about the Troubadour.

david - 05/08/2004 14:58
Been offered a gig at The Troubadour on Friday Otober 15th. I texted you all too. Let me know if it's ok for everyone before tomorrow.

david - 05/08/2004 11:03
I was joking about buying them online! Coffee in Islington sounds divine. I could be at Tinderbox around 2:00pm. Is that ok with you? How many CDs shall I bring?

jana - 05/08/2004 10:32
sorry about my spelling of consensus

jana - 05/08/2004 10:32
because I don't trust our post. Plus I need a lot. Do you want to have coffee tomorrow in Islington? And Glynne, the general concencus is that next friday is best for fingering. What say?

David - 04/08/2004 10:40
Why don't you buy the CDs on the website. Only 4 quid to you!! Tonight I'm at Progress Bar. Thusday and Friday I'm working at home but may go into Islington one of the afternoons. We could meet for coffee.

jana - 04/08/2004 10:13
I know, we can ramble on for ages at no cost. Blah blah blah. Where are you the next two days? And I have even more orders. I'm gonna have to grab a bunch.

David - 03/08/2004 23:57
Glynne emailed me a short clip from the DV and it was quite dark. We should have a viewing one night. Tuesday I'd need to leave early for The Plough Inn but we'd still get a few hours. Friday is great. Shame you didn't take a bunch of CDs after the gig. It's also a shame that Rachel is not a bit more net'ed up. This is much easier than SMS.

jana - 03/08/2004 23:32
I didn't realize the gig was recorded. I'd be interested to hear it. I wonder how it sounds on the dv. At the moment it looks like tues and fri for rehearsal. just waiting on glynne's dates. I have more cd orders!

david - 03/08/2004 13:32
Myles has nothing else booked and is away in France now for a few weeks. Next time he does a gig I'm gonna do BVs. Looking forward to the next rehearsal. Have you sorted anything out? I listened to the recording of the gig today. The violin didn't come out very well, the bass sounds lifeless, but the harmonies went well! I really must sort out the bass sound. Maybe use an amp. That means dragging it around, though.

jana - 03/08/2004 10:49
So sorry, I had to babysit last night. trust me I would much rather have gone to watch myles. mondays and tuesdays are tricky evenings for me. I should have said, sorry. does he have anyting else coming up soon?

david - 02/08/2004 21:42
Myles was great, I sang harmony lines from the wings, or rather, from an aircraft seat.

Glynne - 02/08/2004 16:45
sorry I can't - I'm in the thick of packing up my house and heading off to edinbro' tomorrow until thursday...give Myles my best wishes and thank him for Friday!

david - 02/08/2004 16:14
tomorrow night I'll be at The Plough Inn, Walthamstow. Opposite Wood Street BR. I guess no one can make Myles' gig then. That's a shame. I was hoping we could give him some support.

jana - 02/08/2004 14:36
yes, that was don. he's lovely. haven't watched the show yet so don't know what it's like. I can't come to tinderbox tonight. where are you working tomorrow night?

david - 02/08/2004 14:30
I just saw a trailer for some programme called 55 Degrees and I'm sure I saw someone who was at the gig!

david - 02/08/2004 14:22
Yes, I wondered about that Rachel line but it does have ring of fate about it too. Also, it doesn't seem to say that I joined the band!

Do you want to pick some CDs up tonight at Tinderbox?

jana - 02/08/2004 11:17
I'm mostly concerned about "rachel is the only respondent to the ad" and the glynne gets itchy fingers bit. I still think the whole thing is over mythologising and a bit children's novel. Can I get a few copies of the cd? I've secured some prepayment. Sweet.

david - 02/08/2004 10:17
Each song clip is around 40 secs. Do you want to email me some biog suggestions. For my part, I think the first section about Vienna is too long and won't mean much to most readers.

jana - 02/08/2004 10:04
ah, my necklace...

jana - 02/08/2004 10:02
I can't find anything to click on the homepage. nice work on the music page, how much of a song is there? We really need to do something about that biog...

Glynne - 02/08/2004 01:04
I have entered se secret page...I vent srough se love tunnel...it vas sehr good und an efficient experience

david - 02/08/2004 00:48
very good! you have found se secret page.

Glynne - 26/07/2004 01:03
doh! cracking rhsl today and excellent, wonderful, lovely work on maybe I'll leave on monday...here's to the next EP in double quick time, with some exciting gigs to follow.

david - 25/07/2004 23:58
Oops, must read the fingerpad more often, I had not seen the message below. Sorry.

jana - 20/07/2004 11:53
Is it possible, david, for your vocals on in dreams to be softened? on the word dreams they sometimes come in a smidge before glynne and a bit hard on the d. also as with me in plans three part, your high harmony on the i don't know if you don't know bit swamps me a little just because it's high. what d'ya reckon? x

david - 19/07/2004 16:32
new mix posted today of In Dreams.

david - 13/07/2004 00:34
sure we're cool, we are the fingers! I fixed those bits.

jana - 13/07/2004 00:23
the website is cool. we're cool.

jana - 13/07/2004 00:22
and hear spelled wrong on the guestbook page. how many words for biog?

jana - 13/07/2004 00:20
website lovely, but just noticed a lack of the word Acoustic between Virtually and Club on the gig page...

jana - 13/07/2004 00:16
and mom and dad

david - 13/07/2004 00:13
yes, I just tried the contact page in microfuckoff wanky explorer and it's putting extra space either side of the 'join' and 'leave' headings causing the screen to shift. I'll sort that out. I haven't listenned to the mixes again yet. I'll give it a day or two. probably heard it too many times today.

Thanks on the sleeve notes: Just remember to give thanks to the Lord Jesus without whom none of this would have been possible.

Glynne - 12/07/2004 23:54
second listen to in dreams...second harmony in the first verse seems a bit ropey; bass feels generally a snatch too low in the mix; david, cool work with the site - we have our first message posted! the boxes on the mailing list don't sit quite right at the bottom on my browser - it shifts the whole background slightly up and left when you click on it...does it do that on yours?! new sleeves are up on www.glynnesteele.com by the by... xxx

Glynne - 12/07/2004 23:25
y'all...sounding mighty fine now; plans is very good, keep breathing also; in dreams much better without DI guitar on picking section (though need to lose it from end sections as it's still the old mix there), also violin generally too high in the mix - otherwise, sterling job on difficult song to mix. we're just about there! can we all please write our thanks etc for the sleeve inner and contribute thoughts to the biog for website - we want to be operational before the gig on 30th...all contributions gratefully received to glynne@piefinger.co.uk...dudes y'all...love your work xx

david - 12/07/2004 22:11
todays mixes now posted, ya.

Glynne - 06/07/2004 23:22
thanks David - helpful that they're all at the same bit rate too.

david - 06/07/2004 16:23
I have uploaded new mixes of the songs

Glynne - 02/07/2004 01:14
guys, I've put a new sleev design idea up on www.glynnesteele.com

rachel - 01/07/2004 08:00
Whoops, knew this was too good to be true... I know i didnt type a message but you lured me away from my brain with all your flashy lights and exciting shiny features. Must concentrate must concentrate. Please note the time this was written. Anyway a few points! 1)I am moving house today to 96c Wiverton Rd, Sydenham, SE265HZ. Tel-02086596078(not active yet). 2) Afraid i cant do tomorrow-going back to southampton and going on tour...3)Sorry David, havent kicked Glynne yet but will get on the case just as soon as it is safe to do so.4) Mmm, 2 octave scale sounds interesting David-cant wait to hear it... Think thats all for now. As for the music, if you do any mixing in my absence, please ensure that the violin stays in its rightful, prominent place. Thanks awfully. See you all after tour.xxx

glynne - 29/06/2004 23:41
That's...er...my very good friend Simon who has a good ear for a toon. Strangely though, he left no comments behind. Not like him. Get your fingerpad out old boy!

Simon - 29/06/2004 23:13
I agree with David; Glynne can always do with a good kick! Come on, Glynne, I mean, er, for God's sake..... Glynne will duly apologise for my comments, all you 'fingers out there....

david - 27/06/2004 11:42
Hi Rachel, I heard that you were staying with Glynne for the weekend so I guessed you were sorted. email is a good point. I'll set something up and let you know about it early in the week. I'm very dissapointed we can't record tomorrow. Give Glynne a kick for me. I have been procticing my two octave scale. I'm gonna feature it in every song!

rachel - 26/06/2004 19:26
Hey hey why none of you fingers write me? Am deeply hurt by your silence... David, a little bird told me to contact you redgarding my e mail address. Have it on good authority that it needs to change to .co.uk. Do i need to do anything or can i remain in my happy back seat position??!!! I await your reply with eager anticipation...xx

rachel - 23/06/2004 20:20
Hi guys. In answer to your text glynne-i dont know. Dont fully understand the bussiness with the domain name-what is this. Also is it ok for me to stay with you or any other finger this weekend? Have 4tet rehearsal in birmingham on sun, was thinking of making my return on fri evening-anyone? Sorry i know this is meant to be for band stuff not to sort out my personal dilemas-will you ever forgive me? Hope you all S-W-eet!!XX

david - 20/06/2004 23:06
I have given Myles this address so that he can here the songs beforehand.

jana - 20/06/2004 01:24
we're in the room with you rachel. why don't we talk like we used to in the olden days. text me yur reply

rachel - 20/06/2004 01:18
yes thankyou david i quite agree-can we please not use the picture that makes me really lardy. I am not happy about this look and am considering legal action. In the meantime can we please not mention it (unless it is to tell me that it has gone forever). xx

glynne - 16/06/2004 14:00
cracking comments indeed - a great idea to get some seriously professional comments; we need to talk about them; who else? alastair? myles?

david - 16/06/2004 13:52
Here are some comments from Stephen A Chin that I though you might like to see.

I had a good listen to the Piefinger tracks last night. All in all, they are good. However, you did ask me to be harsh. Listening to it I thought it sounded like a Live Radio Session, rather than like an Album. The Bass Guitar. It seems to be too loud, and could probably do with some smoothing and sweetening. If I was to hazard a guess, I'd say it probably went straight into the mixer, rather than through a DI Box. Assuming that you don't want to re-record the part, I'd suggest you stick the Bass through an Amp Simulator Plugin, or at least a speaker simulator. (There are some free ones on the internet that you can download if you haven't got one already. The first one that comes to mind is the MDA one.) And maybe a bit more compression as well. The Acoustic Guitar sounds a little boxy, and thinking about it for a while I decided it was actually the reverb that made me think that. I think maybe a richer, and larger room would work better. (A little trick I found for making reverbs sound richer is to cascade two. There's also the lovely Anwida free one that can deal with a lot of circumstances.) Although, it might not be the reverb, it could be some of the sound of the room coming through. If that's the case, you'd need to re-record the guitar to get rid, and put some Dead materials behind, like Duvets and Blankets. Also because it is so exposed, some slightly sloppy playing grabbed my ear. But that may just be a result of me working with Leonard too long. I don't think most people would have noticed. The panning of the vocals was something that I wasn't sure about. I'm a fan of having the lead vocal down the middle. But I think that's a purely artistic decision. The vocal sounds are good, but would probably benefit from the richer reverb. I thought the second vocal was often mixed as a 'backing vocal' and I've always seen them as counterpoints before. Which would make more sense of the vocal panning. Again that's an artistic decision. Finally, there were some places, that I think were between verses, or sections where nothing happened for a bar or so, except the guitar. Had a feeling of dead air, or someone not knowing they were supposed to come in, or something like that.

david - 15/06/2004 18:47
If the fade begins at the start of the second set of chords and is fully faded up by the time the bass comes in then the fade in will only be two bars. But it might be ok. I'm off to The Plough now. I'll try it when I get back.

glynne - 15/06/2004 18:18
I just clicked 'refresh' and my message appeared again...more fade-in real estate for ya. to keep the name or not to keep the name...mybe we should put it to the vote. why a much faster fade? the bass doesn't come in until the second set of guitar chords anyway does it? or am I just being a muppet?

glynne - 15/06/2004 18:14
in terms of the fade-in, it sounds great! however, it needs to be at the start of the second set of chords (I played 2 sets on the recording in order to settle in to it and to provide plenty of fade-in real estate (?!)...so, good place but 4 chords (8 bars?) later...you're right about the ending. Jana, what do you think about the levels? How goes with Plans? (no pressure...!)

david - 15/06/2004 13:34
I can make it sound more distant by adding more reverb but then it will sound more like a demo. Totally agree, we are piefinger. Who started all this name change crap (oh shit! it might have been me, sorry).

jana - 15/06/2004 13:15
just listened to in dreams then listened to an old recording where we sounded more distant and it sounded better. sounds a little like we're crowding the mic. I want to do it again now. my first harmony is lame. don't mind me, I'm premenstrual.

jana carpenter - 15/06/2004 13:00
hello dudes. I spoke to jules davis about darren. says he usually charges as he's a session musician, but might do it for free. no answer from his phone yet. "fade in real estate". quite right, david, we could have him arrested. I'm liking keep breathing more too. and we are piefinger. confused.

'fade-in real estate' You can't get away with expressions like that! I'll report you. I figured that it needs to be fully faded-in when the bass comes in, so that would be a much faster fade. Are you sure? I'll try it. Plans afoot.

in terms of the fade-in, it sounds great! however, it needs to be at the start of the second set of chords (I played 2 sets on the recording in order to settle in to it and to provide plenty of fade-in real estate (?!)...so, good place but 4 chords (8 bars?) later...you're right about the ending. Jana, what do you think about the levels? How goes with Plans? (no pressure...!)

In Dreams, it's true, we did talk about a fade up at the beginning but surely not a fade out at the end! The ending is good. I'll do a version today with a fade in so we can see how it sounds. Is Jana too quiet in places or is that a good level?

yeah, thanks mate...it was all getting a bit excorcistic for my liking...thanks for putting up in dreams...the bass is good; weren't we going for a fade-up at the beginning? and fade-out at end? the more I listen to Keep Breathing, the more I like it - except for the stabbing bits!

Glynne, I took the liberty of removing the ectoplasm from your mouth. There was definately something quite ungodly emerging there.

yeah, I think there's some kind of reverse fish-eye effect going on there - just slight...prob did it in photoshop?

New hard disk now installed and all seems well. I've uploaded a version of In Dreams. This red 'live' picture, is it me or are the proportions a bit strange? It looks like Rachel and I are wider than we should be!

I also still prefer tree, but happy to use both!

I still prefer 'tree' but I'm happy enough about using doorway. It's also a great picture. Looks like the boys and girls are looking at different things. Such is life!
