cynthia dallow - 11/08/2008 15:24
saw you in Gloucester several years ago and have really enjoyed playing the collected ep's cd. on a recent holiday to Sardinia we took it along to play in our hired car and sadly left it in the player, sorry to hear this is no longer available but hopefully someone else will get to hear it and enjoy as much as we have. I guess i will have to by both ep's now.

Friday night at the 12bar...what can one say except absolutely beautiful set...the first two songs esp. resonated a wave of infectious good feeling that flowed through the club...

Rike - 12/04/2008 13:27
Saw you at 12 Bar Club last night, great to hear you live, got your CD and love it. Just a shame Glynne isn't in the band anymore, his and Jana's voices were a much better mix and melted together.

Loved you the other night at Acoustica! You were the bests there by far! Love the CD too!!!!! You are all brill, thanks for real music!

Becky - 10/03/2007 12:40
Really enjoyed your gig at the Guildhall last night. My first experience of Acoustica was your gig 2 years ago and I've been going back ever since. I've been listening to the album since Christmas and love the fiddle, the harmonies and Jana' s voice. Keep touring - CD's are all very well but it's the live music that inspires people. Thank you for a perfect evening.

Ruthie - 02/02/2007 21:40

My sister Heather told me about you, she keeps in touch with Jana's brother Jason, we all went to Alconbury together :) Wish I was back in the UK to catch one of your shows. Guess I'll have to just be content with listening to your cd everyday :) Keep up the awesome work!

Lucy (swingthing dancer) - 04/08/2006 01:25
"Other side of the morning" is beautiful. Great blend, guys! And unpretentious and refreshingly raw. Now I just want to run through these autumn leaves and kick them into the air and then I want to see you live! Yeah yeah! By the way, you should all check out Glynne on the dance floor too!

Shannon - 01/08/2006 01:42

Hi Jana, Blast from your past here. You may not even remember me but I'll give it a shot. I used to live at Upwood and went to Alconbury with you. I was one of Jason's running buddies, we hung out with Josh Stokes. I was in the class of '89 with you. Anyway, just wanted to drop a note to say hi! Glad to see all is well with you. I think all of us knew your heart was really in the UK and you would probably end up there for eternity. Anywho , drop me a line at the email addy above and lets rap over old times.

Hey there Jana. This is an old, old friend of yours - Michelle Craig. Mom got her annual Christmas card from your parents and the letter had your website. I am so glad it did, I love your music! I just ordered your CD. Can I be President of your US Fan Club? I hope we get to see each other again some day! Keep up the good work and let me know when a new CD is released. I can't wait to hear it.

Derek (Delboy) and Christine - 07/01/2006 10:43
Hi Guys What a great gig, and hey what a great idea to have a Debbie Harry lookalike on lead vocals and a Buddy Holly loookalike on gutar and and male vocals. Seriously though we had a great time and loved the show. More in London pleaae so us oldies can come along. XXX

Abi - 10/12/2005 21:02
I just read something about a drummer? Who is that then, pray tell? Don't go rock, that would spoil it but percussion could be interesting, if not a little space consuming with all the drums and hardware and stuff. Bye bye x

Jayne - 07/12/2005 22:47

Matt - 28/11/2005 00:32
Hey PF, Have just arrived home after the most enchanting evening at the Marrs Bar, Worcester. PF’s refined, unique and melodic style, to me, is a breath of fresh air. I think the crowd spoke for itself . . . It’s fair to say you can count on a great reception upon your return. Thank you for enchanting my lobes. Truly sumptuous, rich and invigorating . . . Rachel, Glynne, pleasure to meet you. I'll be sure to wear out your EP in time . . . Looking forward to seeing you all live again sometime soon. Best regards, Matt

elaine - 27/11/2005 21:14
saw you at the 'shed', (we were the rowdy couple at the front!) loved the music and the chat, please come back if Ryan asks you. Laney & Roy

Vimtokid - 25/11/2005 10:53
Your tour diary is fab, but we want to know more about arguments and fights, all night after-show parties and furniture being ejected from hotel windows (hehe, I said 'ejected...) Dish me up some dirt-pie!

elaine - 23/11/2005 20:24
Totally hooked after gig at Bitter End on Sunday night. Enjoy rest of tour.

Stephen R. Fletcher - 23/11/2005 16:06
Hey Guys, I was at the Manchester gig in the Thirsty Scolar on monday and just thought I'd drop by and say great gig! I loved each and every one of those songs and was sad that I was unable to get a CD there :o( But I'll buy them on the site when I can :o) Stay Kewl, Fletchy

Abi - 21/11/2005 18:04
Hello people! I heard that the Leicester gig was good. Were many people there? Did you like Pheonix Arts? I've never actually been in there myself and neither had Katie or Claire which is odd considering that they are in the Pheonix Youth Choir. There we are, the weird and wonderful world of boring yet still midly interesting Leicester enclosed in nothing, nothing whatsoever I didn't even mention the nightlife. Nightlife? What nightlife? Not that I'd know anyway... What am I talking about, sorry I digressed. Anyway, I hope the rest of your tour goes marvelously well (is that spelt right?) and that you succeed in your quest to convert the country and beyod into "finger fans" as you so delicately (now is that the right word to use in this instance?) put it. A bientôt, mes amis.

myrtle - 21/11/2005 15:48
Whao! Fingers have now turned into an entire hand!(no I didnt mean band) Its a hand with a difference because there is no Tommy thumb, Peter pointer,Toby tall, Ruby ring or baby small. It is the connectedness/synergy that brings such a spiritual energy to the wonderfu; sound you produce with your music.Hope you will come back North again & let us hear more.

keith nightingale - 21/11/2005 11:19
Thanks for the great gig at cold and foggy Bitter End. Take care on that tour now!

Jules - 19/11/2005 20:17
From the journal: "Rachel speaked on the radio..." Speaked? SPEAKED? Call yourself a writer? You'd be challenged by the literary requirements of a thank-you note! Good luck on the tour, Fingers. You've already played "Keep Breathing" for Children in Need... Hope you get a chance to do "Me And Not Me" at a benefit night for schizophrenics! x

zwaxl - 18/11/2005 13:39
Dudes! Folk 'em. Folk 'em all.

Hassan Mazin - 18/11/2005 04:47

Delboy - 13/11/2005 14:01
Really cool site. Well played at the wedding. Shame the vocalist was tied up doing other things. Good luck with the tour.

Abi - 04/11/2005 17:55
Howdy hey hey!! It was nice to see you all again. I have a horrible feeling that I can't make the Leicester gig because I have a Training Band rehearsal. In fact I think I do. I would've missed it but we've got the national concert band festival the week after. Oooo ain't that posh. Sorry people!! But I'll be mentally cheering as I play my flute. Pheonix is very cool by the way.

Stephen R. Fletcher - 01/11/2005 09:57
Can't wait to see you guys in Manchester, If I can't make it to the Roadhouse Gig then I'll definetly be at the Thirsty Scholar :o)

Owlfinger - 26/10/2005 15:21
Catfish, alleyways are pretty similar that when you're staggering up and down them aren't they! This particular one's in Richmond (the London variety). We haven't played at the VAC much lately because we're embarking on a national tour, starting Nov 17th and finishing at the Borderline on Nov 29th (see GIGS page for all listings), then we're planning to record an album - so we're keeping busy! Thanks for thinking of us and hope to catch a rambling tale soon.

catfish - 26/10/2005 13:00
The alleyway in the photo, is it in Sheffield? I'm sure I staggered along a very similar on one on the way to a jazz pub in that city. Keep up the good work, wish you'd play at the VAC more often.

Nick Ellis Loughborough Acoustic Cl - 13/10/2005 14:12
Hi Glynne....remind me which part of the country you are from again??

Paul - 14/09/2005 16:35
Glynne, how spooky if you're thinking of an NI tour! Completely seperately I was about to ask if the fingers fancied an Irish tour - see you at the Hope and Anchor where I'll reveal more....

felix felicis - 09/09/2005 07:52

Glynne - 27/08/2005 17:11
Hi Justin, we can't wait either, but it probably won't be until springtime next year (gives us plenty of time to plan the tour...!)

justin felice - 25/08/2005 14:20
When is the gig in Northern Ireland?????????

Lynne S. Costner - 20/07/2005 18:02
You are as wonderful as Margaret says. Keep living your dreams. Maybe we shall meet someday!....Lynne

conor - 03/07/2005 15:05
Saw you guys at the Trafalgar gig on Friday. Despite the awful ropey acoustics in the room, (don't need to tell you that, eh?) I thought you came across really well in terms of ambience & songwriting - even with bad sound problems, it's pretty evident when a band has put a lot of effort into their songs , well done, keep it up. Very pleased I went along.

Mal - 28/06/2005 12:13
Lovin' the modern folk. Rock on.

Mike & Karen - 22/06/2005 18:38
Great to meet you Glynne, the bonus is we really like the music. Nic told us we had to but we really do. From us ooop north. Keep breathing.

Abi - 08/06/2005 22:51
Sheehan? Like Sheehan's music services? Sorry, probably a coincidence.

Abi - 08/06/2005 22:49
Or you could write a song about me and my amazingly bad guitar skills... tis awful... byedebye all

Patrick & Danae Sheehan - 02/06/2005 18:57
Glynn, A pleasure meeting you last night & thanks for sharing your music. Piefinger is a much needed breath of originality. Keep up the good work....your Palm Springs mates.

Webmaster - 28/05/2005 15:08
We should point out that when Deborah says 'high' she is reffering to the time when Jana was at the top of a ladder and felt a bit dizzy.

Deborah - 28/05/2005 01:30
Get in line Ralph - Jana promised the next song would be called "Ode to Deborah and her wise wise ways and sexy living". You did promise that right Jana - you weren't taking the piss when you were high right?

Ralph Sedgwick - 27/05/2005 22:50
O yeah, and Jana, if ur reading this, u gotta write a song about me... or ned

Ralph Sedgwick - 27/05/2005 22:49
Hey you guys rock, especially Jana. She rules. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

A.Listner - 15/04/2005 19:10
"If nature will not tell the tale Jehovah told to her Can human nature not survive Without a listener?" hope you will not be like the reticent volcano. Keep breathing. Brillian stuff..

glynne - 10/04/2005 20:57
thanks everyone for all your support! the MUSIC section of the site has been updated with the new EP 'Time Alone' (which you can also buy online) - watch this space for further updates soon...

Seth - 10/04/2005 19:49
I was indeed keeping a low profile... lots of people and not much room! See y'all at the next gig though. :)

jana - 10/04/2005 12:27
thanks for all the lovely comments and suggestions. all are duly noted and, if glynne has anything to do with it, will be put in some sort of coloured file. Love to all and thanks for the support. ps. seth, were you hiding in the shadows?...

frustrated - 10/04/2005 11:56
please update your website with a taste of your new EP

Tracy - 09/04/2005 16:22
Jana - I knew in HS that you'd always be a success. I'm glad to see you're living your dream...gives me hope for my future! lol

jenty - 08/04/2005 20:43
i'm impressed by the ep. you are a very professional band. here's an idea, how about sending the track "midnight" to woody allen? he might be interested in the song, having been filming in london & i think it sounds just as good, and similar in lots of ways, to the classic songs he chooses.

Seth - 08/04/2005 16:25
Really enjoyed the gig at the Troubador last night. The new stuff sounded excellent. Two questions though: i/ 'Silver Sam'. What was that all about, eh?!? ii/ Why didn't the audience shut up and listen more? Oh well. Keep up the good work you splendid people!

Victoria - 08/04/2005 15:01
Well my dears, a very successful gig me thinks (and no breakages this time Glynne!) It's a great achievement to get an audience screaming for more. Rach- you brought a tear to my eye, and no it was not the champagne cocktails! Loved the new stuff, more please. Midnight's a corker.... Some seriously sexy harmonies going on. New EP sounds great; nice touch with opening of Note to Self, love those lyrics. Think we can hear you now Rachel!....Artwork's nice and slick and David.... your hair looks salon-worthy-tastic! C u soon. Love Vic xx

Your Northern Fans - 06/04/2005 09:32
Good Luck for the Troubadour. Look forward to hearing new EP.Love to all

Cath and Ben - 22/03/2005 00:23
Hi there! Thanks for letting us know about your forthcoming gig at The Troubador we'll try our best to come along and see what you are all about!! Very curious!

Chantal - 19/03/2005 16:01
I'm another one who was at the Gloucester gig yesterday. With Rea infact, though she's just beaten me to signing the guestbook ;-) Anyway, I really enjoyed your set and I've just been listening to the EP which is great as well. I agree with what Fi and Kay said a bit further down as well though, Jana was a bit apologetic at times and there was no need as the audience all seemed to really enjoy the gig :-) Keep up the good work!

Rea - 19/03/2005 13:43
Hi, Great gig last night! Great EP too. Was just reading the messages - you played accoustic routes - I live in Cambridge when I'm not at uni in Aberystwyth and I missed it (Amy's played ther a few times too). All the best, I hope to see you live again soon, Rea xx

Fi and Kay - 19/03/2005 11:36
Thoroughly enjoyed your gig last night at the Guildhall. Wished we could have heard more (this isn't a criticism, you obviously had problems to sort prior to coming on). We're looking forward to playing the EP. If I can just say, there were moments when you were a little ... humble, perhaps is the right word ... when there was no need. Individually and as a group you have a strong musical 'voice'; just go for it. We'll look out for you round here again. Fi

darrel - 19/03/2005 10:12
was at the amy wadge gig last, thought you guys were great, the best support i have ever seen, love it, hope to see you again soon!

Seth - 19/03/2005 07:24
Just enjoyed the most fabulous evening watching you guys in Gloucester (supporting Amy Wadge). Fantastic music, superb harmonies and you're all so damn nice!! Please come again soon. Will definately see you at the Troubador!

abi - 18/03/2005 23:03
thanks for coming to leicester dudes and dudettes! much appreciated. it was great despite your various illnesses.

Catherine Undersigned - 03/03/2005 16:07
Just having a little read, and was most amused by the 'classically trained' musician who couldn't tell the difference between one track and another. When I did my music degree, having a good ear was, well, a basic requirement... As for likes/dislikes, it is of course, subjective - but if you're going to play the hoity-toity classically-trained up-your-own-arse card, then it needs to be backed up with some accurate and intelligent analysis. Just for credibility, y'know?Check out random web surfer's review for balanced, constructive, intelligent criticism. You don't have to like something, but it's important to know WHY you don't. Read and learn, oh inarticulate ones. You're very funny, though. For all the wrong reasons.

Myrtle - 06/02/2005 21:29
Hope you are all breathing in Hitchin! Wish I was there. Lots of love to all. Please make "Plans" to come North soon.

Myrtle - 06/02/2005 15:09
Have a happy time in Hitchin tonight & "Keep breathing!" Wish I could be there. Love to all.

Audrey Stewart - 04/02/2005 18:45
I'm hoping to be at Club 85 on Sunday evening & catching up with Rachel Best wishes

Liv - 30/01/2005 19:34
Came with Alan plus a few to see you in Dec at the 12 Bar Club and want to again, but alas no London gigs til April. So great to see a band that's not afraid to be happy. And obviously you're very talented too. Best for '05. x

Tim - 22/01/2005 00:58
Really enjoyed your gig at the 12 Bar last night. Loved the harmonies and really excellent material. Love a well played fiddle. Shame about the people upstairs who couldn't shut up though. Beats me why people talk through bands!

MYRTLE - 12/01/2005 14:01
Great to hear & see you in Camb. Keep singing; keep playing & KEEP BREATHING.

Simon & Diana - 09/01/2005 17:38
Fab gig at Cambridge Acoustic Routes at CB2 last night....a thoroughly entertaining evening....you guys....on fire....

Carin - 07/01/2005 20:00
Still lovin it - all the best for Cambridge (I so wish I could be there!) x

David - 07/01/2005 17:44
We have been asked to play at The Musician in Leicester for those who were interested. Details are on the gigs page. Thanks for the tip. Hope to see you there.

dingus - 06/01/2005 16:41
ya certainly get some weird ones on these evil folk music sites!

Sam - 20/12/2004 15:02
a classically trained musician is taught to appreciate all types of music but that doesn't mean they have to like it, the very fact she didn't says alot! don't you get bored of just reading good stuff about yourselves? then again most of the lyrics are so self interested - probably not! PS don't think that I don't like the band think you're highly average. Happy xmas.

Philippa the dame Waller - 11/12/2004 19:26
When's your next gig? You do indeed rule.

abi - 02/12/2004 17:35
sorry about the weird obsessiveness a while back. Also sorry about the charlotte idea i realised as soon as i'd posted it. Basically they do everything but acoustic. oh well. that classicaly trained musician had no right to say that your stuff was pants because it wasn't even a constructive criticism just an insult, besides classically trained musicians are supposed to be taught to appreciate all kinds of music. I know my flute teacher does, she's over 50 and plays all sorts of classical instruments but still understands other genres of music even if she doesn't like it. Its a lot harder to put together a piece of music than it is just to play one. Oh and if you're interested, there is a acoustic venue in Nottingham, I can't remember what it's called but I'll look in the paper if you want? Good luck with your next recording! Lots of love.

an old friend - 23/11/2004 11:48
Just doing a random search- interesting career move. Are you not acting anymore? I am actually marrying a classical musician next year. How funny?! I am preparing for a PHD right now at London University. Perhaps you may have a clue as to who I am...? All the best, cheers. (A young person.)

David - 19/11/2004 12:58
Thanks Simon, looks good, sending them a cd today.

Simon - 18/11/2004 12:48
Just following up on the Leicester venue idea, there's a place called The Musician which I think might fit the bill for you guys to play - check the website www.themusicianpub.co.uk - demos are invited to be sent....

snax hanson - 14/11/2004 18:14
rock and folking roll, man

Tyler H. - 13/11/2004 05:44
Oh my word! Miss Carpenter you have certainly bloomed into a beautiful woman! The lot you have teamed up with are amazingly talented...All the best!

Sam - 11/11/2004 23:37
Adrian F. you are obviously tone deaf... Vic told me about this site - and if the band can't cope with hearing peoples comments (good and bad) they shouldn't have guestbook!

jana - 11/11/2004 21:51
thanks dude...

Adrian F - 11/11/2004 08:07
classically musically trained... and a complete prat! Why would someone write a message like that? She (or he) must be really sad. Or bitter about something. Still, she's right about one thing. There is a fuss about this band and that speaks for itself.

Vicky - 09/11/2004 01:31
Went to a gig a while back - can't see what all the fuss is. Inane, self absorbed, self obsessed drivel. Couldn't actually tell one song from another and I'm also classically musically trained. Please please stop torturing our ears and go back to the day jobs.

David - 06/11/2004 19:44
Abi, I have checked The charlotte and they don't seem to have a suitable night. They list themselves as catering for; Grunge, Punk, Rock, Indie Ska, Suede, Hardcore, Metal, Psychobilly, Drum & Bass & Hip Hop. I don't think we'd fit in there. If you have an acoustic venue in Leicester, let us know about it.

abi - 06/11/2004 19:31
come to leicester please! Play at The Charlotte! Please!I love upo! Please!

Sarah - 16/10/2004 11:02
Hey guys! Saw you at the Troubadour last night and was hugely impressed, thanks for a fab evening. Beautiful songs - 'Keep Breathing' was my favourite and you all seemed to love performing it too. Henry and Bruno wish to pass on their regards and thank you for recognising their important contribution to the production of the EP I brought home with me last night! Hope to see you all again very soon...

Grace - Texas - 06/10/2004 01:41
JANA!! You are awesome! Just doing some random web searches on old friends and... waalah! Best of luck to you darling! The band sounds great - I wish I could buy it on iTunes. Much love to you and your career!

Geof Walker - 04/10/2004 19:06
Well.... I remember rachel when she was in my class as an eleven year old and now I am bowled over by the EP that has come through my door. If it means anything, I shall be playing it to my class in music tomorrow as an example of what excellence is possible..... xxx

Fairy Gothmother - 29/09/2004 19:41
oops, sorry :) not a chatroom, GUESTBOOK. Clip rocks. will buy cd soon. wooooo.

Fairy Gothmother - 29/09/2004 19:40
Hey one of the member's brother told me bout this band, i listened 2 the clip n it rocks! asl peeps?

abi - 29/09/2004 19:11
How about doing a gig in Leicester then folks? i see your going to Cambridge. Little old Leicester feels left out! As per usual. Oh and i'm promoting you , sort of, in leicester, o.k in my classes, but at least you'll have some dudes to come and listen to you! So how about it?

unonimus (musician) listener - 25/09/2004 15:23
I wanna hear a significant LEAD voice. where is the front man's ruling vocals? it's like the band has no front-man singing, all i hear is harmonies, like a choir. i find it to b a disadvantage. good luck.

Simon - 23/09/2004 21:49
Hmmm, I think said 'bonus' strip-o-gram got lost in the post! Ho-hum, not too bothered, frankly, since my CD arrived safely on its own, with no danger of a naked Glynne!! Surprised it did, since I blatantly forgot to add the 4% Paypal charge on....sorry, guys...anyway, mucho enjoyed the CD; 'keep breathing' still stands out for me, but the other s are still strong. Hope to see you play in Cambridge in the New Year....

jana - 15/09/2004 14:26
Simon, you rule and I love your sensory mixed metaphor. ps. the £1.25 is for the virtual Glynne Steele strip-o-gram you receive with your cd purchase. We just wanna give something back, man...

Simon - 14/09/2004 21:29
I'm very much looking forward to receiving my collector's item CD which I have paid a frankly ridiculous £1.25 P&P for. It'd better arrive wrapped in gold leaf and smelling of myrhh.. Just kidding, I know that this music is worth the laying out of more than mere money.....Glynne, I'm very proud to know that you're keeping a flame burning for quality music and that you have found collaborators who are more than able to fulfil a sonic vision (is that a sensory mixed metaphor??) which we know is worth working towards.....

stephen - 05/09/2004 23:27
hey guys. i used to be in a band from dublin up until about 4 weeks ago. So through a series of bizzare co-incidences Rachel's friend Carin suggested I check your stuff out.. and i think it's really REALLY good. Reminds me of the whole Damien Rice emotional acousticy plucking at my heartstrings vibe... Keep the faith!

Glynne - 05/09/2004 09:33
TO RANDOM WEB SURFER in previous post - thanks very much for your comments, much appreciated! Would love to hear your thoughts on the whole tracks - the EP is available via the site. Cheers!

Random web surfer - 02/09/2004 22:55
Hi there. I don't know your band but I think from the samples you over-do the harmonies. Maybe too many people singing on each song. Too many people singing each line. I'd like to hear more of the lead singer's voice alone. Not that the other voices are bad, but they just reduce the impact. However I think you have enormous potential - the songs sound great, and whoever writes them is very talented, but you should beware of over-working them! Just an amateur's opinion, so don't take me too seriously. Excellent website by the way.

Carin in Cumbria - 31/08/2004 23:27
Hi Rachel! I heard a track tonight via Myrtle and the telephone, and I am longing to hear the rest. Wow! Go Guys...

jonsey - 17/08/2004 15:58

Mark B - 03/08/2004 17:07
I was at the gig last Friday, the song that had a surprise loud ending with a climbing violin solo and the gentle duet were the ones I remembered most afterwards. Really enjoyed it, and like the ep too Mark

abi (the cousin) - 01/08/2004 20:58
